Why your Google Business Profile isn't converting calls
You can check your GBP insights and see the views, the direction requests, the map clicks. What's harder to see is where people drop off between "found you" and "called you." A few causes show up over and over.
1. There's nothing behind the click
If your Website field is empty, or points to an old site with no phone number visible, someone who wants one more piece of information before calling just... doesn't get it. That's a lead you paid nothing to generate and lost for free.
2. Your name, address, and phone don't match everywhere
If your listing says "Giordano Landscaping LLC" and your website footer says "Giordano's Landscaping" with a different phone number, that inconsistency undermines the exact trust signal Google is trying to verify. Keep your business name, address, and phone identical — word for word — across your listing, your website, and any directory you're listed in.
3. Reviews aren't visible where the click lands
People check reviews before they call, even ones who found you through a Google listing that already shows a star rating. If your linked site doesn't also surface real reviews (or worse, shows none, or shows suspiciously generic ones), you're re-introducing doubt you'd already cleared on the listing itself.
4. The call-to-action isn't obvious — or isn't the only one
A page with a contact form, a "Learn More" button, a newsletter signup, and a phone number buried in a footer is a page with no clear next step. On mobile especially, one dominant, unmissable way to call or text should be the only real choice on the page.
5. The page is slow, or looks wrong on a phone
Most of this traffic is someone standing in their driveway looking at a cracked pipe, on their phone, on whatever signal they've got. A page that takes eight seconds to load, or renders with tiny unreadable text until they zoom in, loses people before they ever see your services or your reviews.
None of these are about "needing more marketing." They're about not losing the calls a decent listing has already earned you.
What to check first
- Open your listing on your own phone and tap through to your website exactly like a customer would.
- Confirm your business name, address, and phone match your listing exactly, everywhere they appear.
- Time how long the page takes to load on cell data, not wifi.
- Find the phone number without scrolling. If you can't do it in two seconds, neither can they.
